The KTM 1090 Adventure R is an exciting machine to ride with its liquid-cooled v-twin power plant generating 125 horsepower. It also features incredible WP suspension including a PDS rear-shock, confidence inspiring traction control modes and best-in-class ABS that perform well both on and off-road. The R takes the 1090 Adventure with its well-ploughed furrow of steel trellis frame and V-75 LC8 twin engine and adds more power, stronger spoked wheels, a narrower and bigger 21-inch front tyre, crash bars and 220mm suspension travel – it’s a list which points immediately as much to dirt trails as it does to adventure travel. I have adjusted mine twice, both times I just pulled the handlebars and used a socket. Smacked the head stem bolt a couple of times as well and each time got another 1/4 odd turn. Haven't had a problem with a loose head stem in 10K kilometres. I would assume that the 1290 is the same as the 1090 @18nm. Power and Suspension rocked in 3rd is possible with a near empty tank (1290SA) since 8 gallons can be heavy when combined with my 220# dressed weight. If the tank is full I usually need to clutch wheelie in 3rd & 4th.
